Abstract:Granitoid researches abroad became more prosperous in 1990s than in 1980s. This paper has made a review on the advances of the researches in five aspects: the evolution of the petrogenetic model for I-type and S-type granitoids from the restite model to the three component model; the new explanation on the geneses of magnetite series and ilmenite series granite, which are attributed to a difference in SO2 content and SO2/H2S ratios in their source magmas rather than to their magnetite content (oxidized - and reduced-type granites); the new synthetical classification of granitoids, with emphasis on the relationships between granitoid types, their origins and their geodynamic environments; the new ideas on collisional orogen granites, i.e., the introduction of the geneses of the peraluminons granitoids and the post_collisional strongly peraluminous granites; the development of the hypothesis on geodynamic environmentof the Archean TTG from the hot spot hypothesis to the hypothesis of the plate subduction. In the present paper, the authors try to expound the researchers' train of thought for raising and solving problems and ways of approaches in the course of their studies. It is evident that the researches in the granitoid field have entered a new stage of development. It has been developed from researches on individual intrusive bodies and suites to geodynamic researches on various granitoid types in a specific tectonic setting on a global scale. Well-typed and precisely-dated granitoids can help structural approaches and indicate the geodynamic environment. With some case studies, the use of granitoids as tracers of the geodynamic evolution is also proposed.

Abstract:Granites have metallogenic specialization. At different tectonic settings and different orogenic stages, granitoids of various types, mineralogical and geochemical compositions, geneses, and differentiation evolutionary histories are formed by melting of different sources, and different zonations, fractures and metasomatisms are produced in granitoid plutons. There is correlation between them and associations of metal elements. Also, they play a key role in controlling mineralization of granitoid. Some diagnostic criteria for mineralized granites are summarized and reviewed, which include tectonic setting, zonation of granite, mobility of ore fluid, and geochemical and mineralogical indicators.

    • The discovery of Nanhuatang granite-porphyry in Wudang orogen and its geological significance

      Abstract (1799) HTML (0) PDF 838.10 K (2645) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Four whole-rock samples of Nanhuatang granite-porphyry in Wudang orogen give a Rb-Sr isochron age of (237±19) Ma, which represents the formation age of the granite-porphyry body. This discovery has not only filled up the gap in Indosinian magmatic record in Wudang orogen but also provided the direct evidence for studying and determining the heat source of deposits in Indosinian period in Wudang region.

    • Characteristics of Mesozoic granodioritic rocks in southwestern Fujian and their tectonic evolution

      Abstract (1846) HTML (0) PDF 1.87 M (2743) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Mesozoic granodiorites occurring in southwestern Fujian, whose ages are 183~162 Ma and 108~106 Ma respectively, belong to high_K calc-alkaline series of intraplate with K2O +Na2O>6.0%. Early and late granodiorites are enriched in Na2O and K2O respectively. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns are characterized by LREE enrichment with weak negative Eu anomalies (δEu=0.80~0.86). In the primitive mantle-normalized spidergrams, they are enriched in LILE and LREE with significant Nb, Ta, Ti, Y depletion and possess the geochemical features of calc-alkaline rocks in island arc or acive continental margin. The geochemical characteristics of the two types of Mesozoic granodiorites suggest that their source region may be an enriched lithosphere mantle affected and altered by ancient subduction materials or source mixing between asthenosphere-derived basalts and crust materials. Perhaps there have occurred many times of lithospheric extension and thinning since Early Mesozoic in southwestern Fujian. The granodiorites were mixed between partial melts of middle/lower crust-derived materials and mantle magma. With the increasing extension, the mantle components in Late Mesozoic granodiorites gradually grow.

    • A preliminary investigation of melt inclusions and genesis of Xihuashan tungsten deposit

      Abstract (1781) HTML (0) PDF 1.95 M (2586) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:It used to be considered that the wolframite_quartz veins in Xihuashan orefield has been crystallized from hyperthermal or mesothermal solution. Reported here are fluid-melt inclusions and silicate inclusions within beryl of the wolframite-quartz veins, which coexist with gas-liquid inclusions. This suggests that the metallogenetic fluids should be a kind of magmatic hydrothermal solution. The present paper has probed into the relationship between melt and metallization.

    • The origin of Huangling granite batholith

      2002, 21(2):151-161. CSTR:

      Abstract (2127) HTML (0) PDF 2.19 M (2755) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Huangling granite batholith, along with Hannan and Liyuzhai granite batholith, constructs a low-K granite belt in the northern periphery of Yangtze Platform. It is disintegrated into Sandouping, Huanglingmiao, Dalaoling and Xiaofeng suites, comprising 14 units, whose emplacement ages are between 832 and 750 Ma. Sandouping and Huanglingmiao suites consist mainly of tonalite, trondjemite and granodolerite, being syntectonic granitoids emplaced at the ductile domain 16 km deep under the action of SN-strikingregional compression. Dalaoling and Xiaofeng suites, belonging to calc-alkaline series, are late-tectonic granitoids emplaced at the brittle domain (5 and <1.5 km in depth respectively) formed during rapid uplift of the crust. Based on major and trace elements and isotope geochemical data, it is inferred that Sandouding suite is formed by magma melting of Late Archeozoic continent tholeiite source, and its geochemical variation is controlled by hornblende fractional crystallization. Besides fractional crystallization, the geochemical variation of Huanglingmiao suite is related to the mixing between dacitic magma and felsic magma. Dalaoling suite is probably derived from early Precambrian volcanics.

    • Characteristics of southern Xiaochangshan superunit granites in western Beishan tectonic belt, Xinjiang

      2002, 21(2):162-168. CSTR:

      Abstract (1684) HTML (0) PDF 1.47 M (2765) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The southern Xiaochangshan granitic intrusive is an important geological body in Beishan tectonic belt, Xinjiang, produced by the second sequence magmatic intrusion in the middle Hercynian period. The superunit is composed of five units covering an area of about 132.9 km2. The isotopic geological age of the fourth unit is 320.2±23 Ma (zircon, lead-lead age method). The rocks are of calc-alkaline series and belong obviously to the comagmatic evolutionary sequence. Trace elements show characteristics of the mature arc granite in the background of the land arc and I-type granite. The superunit was formed by the strong magmatic intrusion during the closing period of Beishan craton rift valley.

    • Characteristics of Qoima orthophyre in central Qiangtang and its tectonic significance

      2002, 21(2):169-173. CSTR:

      Abstract (1643) HTML (0) PDF 852.60 K (2947) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Qoima orthophyre is an intrusive of Himalayan orogenic period, with relatively high content of bulk alkali (K2O>Na2O) and comparatively high ratio of LREE to HREE. The REE model is of right_inclined type with fairly great gradient. In addition, the accessory mineral assemblage can be assigned to the spatite-sphene-magnetite type.

    • Types of granite and mapping methods for the orogenic belt--Exemplified by Beishan Mountain orogenic belt, Gansu Province

      Abstract (1970) HTML (0) PDF 1.06 M (2958) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Beishan Mountain orogenic belt in Gansu Province is a part of the extensive Tianshan-Xinganling folded belt, located where Tarim-China-Korea plate is connected with the Kazakhstan plate. Magmatic activities are developed under special tectonic setting, and granite masses of different types and properties are widely formed in different orogenic stages and tectonic settings. The granites in Beishan Mountain of Gansu Province are divided into 4 types according to magmatic evolution, formation orders, and metamorphic-deformational properties detected during geological mapping in 1:250000 regional geological investigation. With different approaches, different mapping systems have been established.

    • A microstructure marker of syntectonic granitoids

      2002, 21(2):179-185. CSTR:

      Abstract (1954) HTML (0) PDF 1.60 M (2984) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:In many syntectonic granitoids, micro_intergrowth, a kind of micrograined mineral aggregates different from mylonization matrix, has been found. It fills in the seams and triple junction channels among the larger mineral grains, generally with a content of 2%~6% in the rocks. It consists mainly of micrograined quartz, albite, potassic feldspar, myrmekite, etc.,and can be divided into two types: granular and myrmekitic intergrowth. In composition, it is just like a late crystallized product of granitic magma. According to the characteristics of its occurrence, composition, petrography and the experimental conclusion that the dominant deformation mechanism will change into dislocation creep when the melt content in the rock is lower than 3%~5%, it is suggested that micro-intergrowth is a crystallization product of a small amount of residual melt (about <3%~5%) in rocks under strong stress. So it can be considered generally as a microstructure marker of synkinematic crystallization in intrusions.

With the computer and network communication technology, Chinese granite GIS will be finally constructed. Then, the establishment of Chinese granite professional website on Internet will provide online service. It is possible to search for Chinese granite geological information according to such keywords as spatial positions, strata, structures, petrology, mineral resources, geophysics and geochemistry.

    • The mechanism of applying tourmaline to purifying Cu~(2+)-doped waste water

      2002, 21(2):192-196. CSTR:

      Abstract (5086) HTML (0) PDF 1.01 M (3587) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:This paper deals with the mechanism of applying tourmaline to purifying Cu 2+_doped waste water based on the study of absorbing Cu2+ ion by tourmaline in water. Factors affecting the absorption of Cu2+ ion in solution, such as diameters, quantity of tourmaline particles, and experimental conditions (pH value, temperature, stirring situation) are studied. The purifying mechanism of tourmaline lies in the existence of electrostatic field around tourmaline particles, which attracts Cu2+ ion and causes Cu2+ to combine with OH-, the dissociation product of hydroxyl at the surface of tourmaline, thus forming precipitation on tourmaline and attaining the aim of purification.
