Selecting natural dolomite as raw materials, the authors made a new kind of pearl nuclei through mechanic grinding and surface treatment. Beside having similar properties to mollusc shell nuclei, the new pearl nuclei possess some advantages such as white color, strong luster, round shape and cheap cost. The research and development of the new pearl nuclei can not only protect biological resources and ecological environment, but also help to meet the need of future pearl production.
